The third place play-off was won by Keith Cooke’s rink who beat David 15
Lamb’s rink by one shot. Lamb scored four shots on the final end miss-
ing out on forcing an extra end by a narrow margin. In the group stage
only a single shot was the difference between Oatway's four going
through over Steven Lamb's rink with them on 3 points and -3 shots
and Oatway on 3 points and -2 as Cooke won the group having won
two games.
In the other group Jean Woods, Donna Lamb, Chris Mann and
David Lamb had beaten Sparham's rink in the opening group game
by 6-4 and went on to beat Ty Musk's rink by 15-1 to see them through
as group winners. Sparham went through as runners-up with wins over From
George Clarke by 7-5 and Ty Musk by 7-3. Margaret Reynolds, Jackie Selwyn Goldsmith
Smith, Melly Woods and Trevor Brown would have envisaged going a
long way but were instantly put out with two opening defeats in their group by Steven Lamb's rink
by 7-6 and then Keith Cooke's rink 9-1.
Cup glory for Carter
Cup glory for Carter
Bob Carter reeled off their fourth successive
Summer Cup triumph but Division Two Halver-
gate, playing in their first ever final, only lost
the match on shots after it finished all square
on points at neutral Anglian Windows.
Halvergate’s Ian Mills, Steven Lamb &
Keith Cooke opened against Jason Woods,
England international Melvin Woods & former
World Fours Champion Trevor Brown. First
blood was drawn by Carter as a great last bowl
by Brown on the first end gave them a 3-0 lead but thereafter the match became a see saw game
the eventually ended as a 15 - 13 result for Halvergate.
On the other mat Carter’s triple comprised two former and one current England international
as George Clarke, David Lamb & John Turner faced Halvergate’s all County Team triple of Ray
Lamb, Robbie Lamb & Josh Baxter. In the end the Halvergate triple were left somewhat shell
shocked as the Carter triple rolled over them by 32 shots to 5. This left the match at half time two
points each but with Bob Carter Centre holding a 45 - 20 shots advantage.
Halvergate needed to achieve a minimum of one win and a draw if they were to save the
day in the second half. Halvergate left their triples unchanged but Carter brought in Jean Woods
to replace Jason Woods while leaving ex England player Nigel Willard as an unused substitute.

the last end of the game Halvergate were 8 - 10
down but were holding two shots for the draw. If
they achieved this, and Cooke’s triple held on to
win on mat two, Halvergate would be lifting the
cup aloft. However, with just Trevor Brown’s final
wood to go he had a perfect drawing wood to take
shot and clinch the Cup for Bob Carter for yet an-
other year with an 11-8 win.
On the other mat the last two ends were
played out with Keith Cooke completing an 11-7
win against John Turner’s triple with a perfect last wood leaving the match all-square on points
but shots were significantly in the Bob Carter Centre’s advantage, hence the win.
