LANGSTONE CLIFF HOTEL

This event at this very popular
family hotel completed our 23rd
year at the Langstone. The open-
ing evenings Bowls drive was won
by Alison Eastgate, Arthur Birch,
John Underhill & Keith Jacobs,
who ended with a plus of 13
shots. This scratch team event is
a get to know everyone friendly
but competitive competition.
The evening 2-bowl Singles
was as usual the first event to be
completed. At the Quarter final
The winners of the Bowls drive stage John Downs edged past
John Underhill by 8 shots to 7.
Brian Eastgate had an easier task beating Gordon Lucas 8
- 1, as did Michael Bell with a 10 - 3 win over Ron Tipper
and completing the round. Kevin Howarth beat Keith Jacobs
9 - 6.
In the semi-finals Michael Bell once again emerged on
top with an 8 - 6 result over Kevin Howarth, whilst in the
other semi, Brian Eastgate was in devastating for against
John Downs, completing a 9 - 0 result. In the final it was
Brian’s turn to be under the cosh as previous winner Michael
Bell completed a 7 - 2 result with ends still to play.
The first of the Triples Quarter finals saw a somewhat
one-sided affair with Trevor Shopland, Doug Campbell &
Brian Hawkins beating Jean Goodman, John Shere & Vickie Singles Champion
Hickman 10 - 4, as did Gordon Lucas, Michael & Anthea Bell Michael Bell and finalist
over Gerald Williams, Maria & Richard Kitchener. Brian Eastgate
