SHORT MAT BOWLS AT WARNER HOLIDAYS
Bob & Yvonne Weafer (Breakaway Leisure), no longer organise Short Mat Bowls holidays
at any Warner site but this is not of our choosing, despite a 25 year unblemished record,
it is at the request of Warner Holidays. Last year we had a very bad time at Warners Gun-
ton Hall. We all arrived and found we were banned from using the main Bowls hall en-
trance with no prior notice. Later in the week we could not use the alternative entrance
owing to a Darts Contest blocking the way and thus we technically had no entrance what-
soever other than using the main entrance and risk the wrath of a Warner employee who
had been harassing my guests.
In addition, Warners had closed off the Wheelchair ramp in the bowls hall to the in-
convenience of one of my guests. To cap it all, one bowler (Tony Drew), missed his quarter
final through his own fault and decided to blame me and struck me. I returned the com-
pliment to make sure he didn’t do it again. Amazingly, even though I was not at fault at
all, Warners blamed me! However we still organise at the number one site in the UK at
Potters Resort, plus The Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish Warren and TLH in Torquay.
