24th Generation Yan
Yan Tso Wu, the only surviving son
of forefather Yan Hsiang Hsin, led the
clan as the 24th word-line, Szu
patriarch. His formal name was Szu
Yuan, and stylistic name Sheng Ping.
He was born on the 1st day of
the 11th moon in the 7th year (1650)
reign of Emperor Shun Chih (1644-
1660)
He passed away on the 11th
day of the 12th moon in the 23rd year
(1684) rule of emperor Kang His
(1662- 1722). He was buried at Tung
Shan Ken.
He married a maiden from the
Chiu clan to be his legal wife and she
bore him an only son, Yan Tien Yu,
tablet name ancestor Chao Chi, to
carry on the blood-line of the Yan
clan as practiced by his predecessors
for the past 23 generations.
25th Generation Yan
Yan Tien Yu, the only male heir of
forefather Yan Tso Wu, succeeded
his father as the clan elder of the
25th generation Lineage, born under
the word-line Sheng. He was given
the formal name of Shih Pao and also
known by his stylistic name of Choo
Chi, by which name he was
commemorated in the ancestral
tablet.
He was born on the 12th day of
the 8th moon in the 20th year (1681)
reign of Emperor Kang His (1662-
1722) and passed away on the 15th
day of the 6th moon when Emperor
Chien Lung (1736-1794) had already
completed his 22nd year (1757) on
the throne. His burial ground was at
Tung Shan Ken
He first married a maiden from
the Lin clan to be his legal wife and
she turned out to be barren, unable
to produce any children for the Yan
clan.
He then took a second wife
from the Hsu clan and it was from
this wedlock an heir was eventually
born, who was named Yan Hao
Chiu, tablet name Ancestor Chih
Ming.
26th Generation Yan (Wordline
Chi)
Yan Hao Chiu succeeded his father
as the patriarch of the 26th lineage of
the clan. He was given the formal
name as Chi Lin and known also by
his stylistic name of Chih Ming.
He was born on the 20th day of
the 3rd moon, a year (1734) before
Emperor Chien Lung (1736-1744)
came to the throne.
He passed away between 1.00
and 3.00am on the 16th day of the
5th moon in the 52nd year (1787) of
Emperor Chien Lung's rule (1736-
1794). His resting place was shifted
to Chang Lin on the 18th day of the
2nd moon in the 27th (1847) reign of
Emperor Tao Kuang (1821-1849).
A marriage alliance was struck
with the Chan clan when forefather
Yan Hao Chiu took one of its maiden
to become his legal wife. From this
wedlock, three male heirs were born
into the Yan family. The new
descendants were:-
1. Yan Pei Chang, who died young,
2. Yan Pei Szu tablet name Ancestor
Tou Hou and
3. Yan Pei Haiao tablet name
