A traveling exhibit will be created that highlights significant events in Chief Justice Johnson’s life
and legal career.

Conclave Subcommittee

Annual Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession

On March 7, 2008, the LSBA held a historic inaugural Conclave on Diversity in the Legal
Profession, for approximately 120 attendees, to begin a discussion among attorneys regarding
racial, ethnic, gender, and generational diversity. The LSBA hosted the one-day Conclave in
cooperation with the Louisiana Supreme Court and local and specialty bar associations. The
Conclave has occurred annually since that time.

The 14 Annual Conclave on Diversity in the Legal Profession will be held on August 12, 2022,
at the Four Seasons New Orleans. The theme of the conclave: Diversity and Inclusion: From
Theory to Practice.

Awards Subcommittee

Past Award Information:

The LSBA Committee on Diversity in the Legal Profession approved the recommendations listed
below under “Awards Background” on November 13, 2015. The Board of Governors approved
the recommendations for the Louisiana State Bar Association Chief Justice Bernette Joshua
Johnson Trailblazer Award and Louisiana State Bar Association Guardian of Diversity Award
on January 15, 2016.

2021-22 Awards Subcommittee Recommendation, Committee on Diversity in the Legal
Profession Award:
The Awards subcommittee met on January 12, 2022. The Diversity Committee met to approve
the recommendations on February 18, 2022. The recipient will be awarded at the Conclave on
August 12, 2022.
