An article on JLAP misconceptions was published in the December
2020-January 2021 Journal. In the June-July 2021 issue, we are
publishing an article introducing incoming JLAP Executive Director Dr.
Angela White-Bazile. In August-September 2021, Dr. White-Bazile is
publishing an article on stress. The October-November 2021 article
discusses “Is it Safe to Unmask?” The December 2021-January 2022
article discusses the issue of suicide. The February-March 2022 article
discusses “The Battle Within.”
Focus on Professionalism articles published in August-September
2019, December 2019-January 2020, June-July 2020, June-July 2021,
August-September 2021 and October-November 2021, December
2021-January 2022, and February-March 2022, covering topics
including MeToo, technology competency, COVID-19 related paradigm
shifts, virtual practice, The New Normal and Mindfulness for Lawyers,
Lawyer Wellness, and Professionalism Basics.
A new group of authors are in place for the coming year. In June-July
2021, we are publishing an article on virtual practice.
The new section, Practice Makes Perfect, will discuss Attorney-Client
Relationships in the February-March 2021 Journal. The April-May
2021 and the June-July 2021 issues are covering Conflicts of Interest
Part 1 and Part 2. The August-September 2021, October-November
2021 and the December 2021-January 2022 articles covered fees and
billing. The February-March 2022 article covers credit card payments.
Continue to administer the Transition Into Practice voluntary mentoring
program;
o Require a comprehensive meeting between mentors and
mentees to discuss in detail the Revised Code of
Professionalism
This item has been added to the TIP Handbook and LSBA staff
continues to administer the TIP program and the Mandatory
TIP program.
▪ Continue to offer Support of Lawyers/Legal Personnel – All Concern
Encouraged (SOLACE);
LSBA staff continues to administer SOLACE emails
▪ Continue to offer Ethics Advisory Service; and
LSBA continuing to offer Ethics Advisory Service to its members
▪ Continue to support Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program (JLAP).
o Board of Governors allocated $300,000 for JLAP in FY
2020/2021 budget
o LSBA President-Elect continues to serve as JLAP Treasurer
