individuals in her courtroom. It is also important to have a judge who takes the responsibility of
instilling those same values in young lawyers who also have the important responsibility of helping
to administer justice. Judge Daresnburg set high standards for her law clerks, she demanded that
we showed up willing to work hard but also that we carried ourselves with a professional decorum
and an understanding that we were also serving the public. Judge Daresnburg took me with her to
many community meetings and public service events, from Rotary Club meetings to speaking to
Jefferson Parish public school students.

I cannot think of a better person to receive such a prestigious award. I also would like to
