                                 Re: Judge Anthony J. Marabella

            Dear Ms. McBride:

I write this letter to explain my strong recommendation of Judge Anthony J. “Tony” Marabella for
the Louisiana State Bar Association’s 2021 Catherine D. Kimball Award for the Administration of Justice.
I have had the honor of calling Tony a mentor and friend for almost thirty years. I do not know of anyone
more deserving of an award which honors “an individual who has done exemplary work in advancing the
administration of justice in our state.”

Tony has worked to advance the administration of justice in many ways during his career.

His work toward that goal began while he practiced law. He was a member of the East Baton
Rouge Parish Indigent Defense Board for 20 years and Chairman for 5 years and a member of the
Louisiana Indigent Defense Assistance Board serving as Chairman from 2001-2003. In 2016, he was
awarded the Chief Justice Pascal F. Calogero, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award by the Louisiana
            Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Tony has also worked to advance the administration of justice by mentoring young lawyers who
would later become leaders of the Baton Rouge Bar including Hillar Moore, the current District Attorney
of the 19th Judicial District Court and the Honorable Fred Crifasi, Judge, 19th Judicial District Court.
Tony has also served for years as an adjunct professor at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center.

Shortly after taking the district court bench, Tony took on the extra responsibility of presiding over
the 19th JDC Drug Court and continued to preside over it for 14 years. While serving in that capacity, he
also served on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Association of Drug Court Professionals. The Drug
Court has been proven to substantially decrease recidivism as compared to those sentenced to traditional
            criminal justice interventions.

Tony also worked to advance the administration of justice by serving as a member, and Chairman,
            of the Louisiana Judiciary Commission.
