The Fort Irwin community honored the nation’s birthday by celebrating at the “Red, White
and Boom” bash on Army Field here, July 4.
Leadership, Soldiers of this installation, families, civilians and servicemembers of the rota-
tional training unit attended the extravaganza that included food, games, music, camaraderie
and a fireworks display.
The band “Liquid Blue” covered songs of several genres and eras, and gave the audience a
high-energy performance. National Training Center and Fort Irwin Commander Brig. Gen.
Joseph Martin and the previous garrison commander, Col. Jon Braga, presented the band a
framed certificate.
The directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation puts on the annual event and
invites numerous organizations, sponsors and vendors in providing a family-oriented, enter-
taining event.
