was nominated for the honor by
multiple nursing leaders. One
nomination noted how Parshall
spent hours working on the
roof during the hottest part of
the summer to alleviate an air
conditioning issue.
LocaliQ is honored and thrilled to
share that their digital marketing
platform was named Product of
the Year in the 2023 Sales and
Marketing Awards program, also
known as The Sammys. Presented
by the Business Intelligence
Group, The Sammys highlight
organizations and products
that help solve the challenges
businesses have connecting and
collaborating with prospects and
customers.
Several E.W. Sparrow Hospital
caregivers were recently
recognized for going above and
beyond to deliver compassionate
care and a special wish to a patient
nearing the end of his life. While
on a ventilator, the patient wrote
a note to Medical Intensive Care
Unit (MICU) nurse Nick Stedtefeld
saying he wanted to go outdoors
one last time before he died.
Stedtefeld and MICU assistant
manager Erin Muller, along with
Respiratory Therapists Jenny
Fry and Wade Stacey, were able
to make the wish come true,
arranging for the patient to go
outside on the helipad atop the
Sparrow Tower for 45 minutes.
CATA has received a Gold
recognition in the American
Public Transportation Association's
Sustainability Commitment
Program. In 2019, CATA formulated
MEMBERS ON THE MOVE
a strategic plan that emphasized
their core values, including
a dedication to sustainable
solutions as responsible stewards
of the community and the planet.
CATA appointed a sustainability
champion and transitioned all
three facilities to utilize 100 percent
renewable energy sources.
Three caregivers have received
Sparrow Eaton Hospital’s highest
honors for their exceptional
contributions to patient care and
the hospital’s success. The winners
of the annual Fulton Awards
of Excellence were recognized
during a recent ceremony. They
are Charlotte Glover, patient
specialist, who received the non-
clinical service award; Christina
Koetsier, practice manager of
SMG Eaton Rapids, who received
the leadership service honor and
Kate Reincke, RN, emergency
department nurse, who received
the clinical service award.

From the Lansing office, Jeffrey W.
Bracken was recognized as a Super
Lawyer.
Four attorneys from the Lansing
office of Foster Swift Collins &
Smith, PC have been selected to
the 2023 Michigan Super Lawyers
list while three others have
been selected as "Rising Stars”.
Recognized as Super Lawyers
were Charles E. Barbieri, Charles
A. Janssen, Scott L. Mandel and
Douglas A. Mielock. Rising Stars
included Taylor A. Gast, Warren
H. Krueger III and Brandon M.H.
Schumacher.
Nurses at Sparrow Carson,
Sparrow Eaton and Sparrow Ionia
hospitals have received a five-
star rating for the incredible way
they communicate with patients
and listen to their needs. Becker's
Hospital Review, a medical industry
trade magazine, that reports on
and conducts its own research on
healthcare, gave the community
hospital nurses five stars for nurse
communication. Nurses from
University of Michigan Health also
received five stars. Sparrow is part
of U-M Health.
Monica Thelen, RN, has been
recognized with the E.W. Sparrow
Hospital DAISY Award for her
outstanding and compassionate
care of a young patient nervous
about having an MRI. The five-year-
old boy needed to be sedated for
several MRIs and Thelen, a nurse in
the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit,
went out of her way to make him
feel safe and comfortable before
his procedure.
