 PRAYER FOR TODAY
  58
Friday February 7 - Our Father knows
“For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” Matthew 6:32
Our heavenly Father knows our needs. Whilst unbelievers eagerly seek material things, we can rest in the knowledge that God is fully aware of our desires and struggles. During trials and tribulations, we might feel alone or abandoned, but we must remember that God intimately knows our situation.
In a world where many seek solace through such diversions as drugs, alcohol, or other vices, we are called to find comfort in God. He meets and satisfies all our needs and provides the Holy Spirit as our comforter during difficult times. Knowing that the Father sees and understands us can be a source of great encouragement and strength.
The term ‘Father’ carries significant weight. For some, the idea of a father might be tainted by experiences of absence or neglect. This can affect how we view and trust in God. However, it’s crucial to understand that our heavenly Father is not like any earthly father. He is perfect in his love, protection, guidance, and provision.
God’s love is unwavering, even when we fall repeatedly. He is always ready to lift us back up, much like the father in the parable of the prodigal son. Our heavenly Father desires the best for us, guiding and caring for us every step of the way.
Lord, thank you for knowing our needs and always being there for us. Help us to trust in your provision and find comfort in your unfailing love. Amen.
Saturday February 8 - The present moment “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about
itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34
Today’s text encourages us to focus on the present moment; it is a profound reminder to ‘live in the now’ and embrace each day as it comes, without being consumed by anxieties about the future. In our fast-paced world, it is easy to get caught up in the worries of what tomorrow might bring. We often find ourselves stressed about future events, finances, relationships, and countless other concerns. However, Jesus teaches us to trust in God’s provision and to handle today’s challenges without the added burden of future worries.
Living in the present moment means appreciating the here and now, trusting that God has our future in his hands. This doesn’t mean we should neglect planning or being prudent, but rather that we should not let fear of the unknown rob us of today’s peace and joy. Our Father knows what we need and promises to take care of us. By focusing on today, we can fully engage in the blessings and opportunities that each moment brings. This perspective allows us to experience life more fully, deepening our relationship with God and others.
Let’s reflect on how we can better live in the present, trusting God with our tomorrows. By doing so, we free ourselves from unnecessary stress and open our hearts to joy and peace.
Lord, help us to focus on the present moment and trust you with our future. Teach us to embrace each day with faith, knowing you will provide for our needs. Amen.
