Developments for the New Year...
Thank you to all who joined the Chairman of Governors and I for Zoom meetings on 14th, 15th and 16th December. We hope that the meetings were informative and that you appreciated an opportunity to hear about developments at Abberley Hall. For those who were not able to join us, I have outlined some key points below:
» Greater Flexibility for Boarders
Pupils will be able to board full-time, weekly or on a part-time basis for any number of nights. Please note that weekend boarding will, for now, be reserved for our full-boarders and Weekly boarders (who will be able to pay a weekend supplement). This is due to covid restrictions and the need to operate as one household on the weekends.
Our boarding is proving to be extremely popular. If you would like your children to start boarding next term or if you have any queries about boarding then please contact Mr Dunham, our Head of Boarding: Toby.Dunham@abberleyhall.co.uk
» Saturday Enrichment
I am excited to welcome you to Discover, our Saturday morning enrichment programme, which will be launching in January. Although attendance on Saturday mornings will now be optional, we would be delighted if our younger pupils choose to join us and we strongly urge our older pupils to join us and take full advantage of all that an Abberley Hall education has to offer. Senior schools want children to be well- prepared for exams and our new academic timetable ensures that this will be the case, but they also want children to have received a broad education and to have developed interests, skills and passions in a wide range of areas. Our Saturday mornings provide an opportunity to discover and explore six areas and to work towards obtaining awards. We believe that the programme will support the holistic development of all our pupils and ensure the best possible preparation for the next step in their educational journey.
Saturday sports fixtures will still be held on Saturday afternoons, once covid restrictions have eased, and a weekend programme for boarders will start after lunch. Lunch will be provided for those taking part in fixtures and for those boarders with us for the weekend.
Please read our information booklet ‘Discover’ carefully and discuss the various options with your children. Click on the below to access the booklet.
