For Dhilan’s 11th Birthday we bought him a VW Karmann Ghia Coupe.
Well not exactly. Our son being a young petrol head and fanatic on VW’s reached his 11th Birthday. Due to Covid we could not celebrate as usual with family and friends, so we decided to do something different.
It was a case of ‘Hands, Face, Space and Eat Cake”. We had a Karmann Ghia birthday cake made by Suzie (www.simplysweetcakeart.co.uk). It was the first time she had made a Karmann Ghia so we supplied a photograph of our actual Karmann Ghia ‘Daisy’ and a toy 1:18 replica. To be honest we were not expecting the car/ cake to be exact and so detailed, down to the registration!
It was surrounded by Minions armed with spanner’s and hammers stating that they had ‘fixa the cara’, Minion language for ‘we made and fixed the car’, a bit worrying if you know the Minions.
Anyway, we all felt guilty and at one point said that the cake was too good to cut and eat. We ended up eating the middle section, the cake tasted just as good as it looked. We then agreed to keep the front section; bonnet, wheels, grill and also the back section, placed in a vacuumed plastic box for preservation / memories. As for Dhilan, he has another few years before he inherits our Karmann Ghia.
Note during the production of this feature no actual Karmann Ghia’s or Minions were injured or damaged and social distancing rules were applied. Martin M, don’t worry the minions were not let loose to service Daisy.

Hi Pravin, that cake looks exceptional and I don’t blame you for not eating it... I must say, I’m not sure it would have had the same fate in my household!
