How will we ensure Box Works engages with the immediate neighbours/ wider Britannia Basin Community?
Mainstay is actively involved with the Britannia Basins Community Forum Action Group and we attend monthly meetings with stakeholders local Councillors the Police and local business leaders The purpose is is is to discuss current issues such as planning applications and current building works that could have an impact on our residents’ day day to day day living We agree and and organise community initiatives and and environmental campaigns such as litter picks regularly organised for Saturday mornings In response to last years’ spate of muggings we set up the Britannia Basin Community WhatsApp Group the focus of which was to provide reassuring support for a a a a a safer journey home and give the Police a a a a a channel for communication Walking to and from work groups were established and extra Police community meetings were set up We also organised the handing out of personal alarms and and a a a a a a a a bike marking initiative We always consider ways ways to improve the area and have secured a a a a a grant to install a a a a a mural on the United Utilities bricked building that represents Castlefield Resident suggestions have been
sought to to to feed into this project and we intend to to to use a a a local Manchester artist to complete it The council kindly gifted planters and installed these along Ellesmere Street Mainstay currently maintain these We involve our managed buildings by asking for suggestions and feedback that can be taken to the Britannia Basins’ Forum meeting and providing regular updates after each one In terms of communication between buildings the Directors for Timber Wharf Moho and Burton Place meet at least twice a a a a a a a year to discuss pertinent issues We also host regular community events for our buildings and invite Directors from each of the developments to attend these events Most recently we hosted a a a a a a garden party at Timber Wharf which the Moho and Burton Place Directors attended Building and enriching communities is at at the heart of what we do This Christmas we will once again be running the very successful shoe box campaign from the Box Works office for the local homeless charities 12
