                              Prefects’ Training Day
On Thursday 28 October, we hosted a prefects’ training day. Several other schools joined us and each school was represented by their respective prefects with over 50 senior pupils present at the College and another 20 or so joining online from India and Bath. It was a productive day as the students listened to sessions led by the Chaplain, David Ibbotson, and the Headmaster, Keith Metcalfe, together with James Mears from Dean Close School. Each shared their own words of wisdom and expertise. Throughout the day, the students learned what qualities a leader should have, roles of a leader, and how that equates to working as a leadership team and how to resolve conflict. In addition, the students learnt what type of leader they were and how that may cause issues within their teams, and hence how to solve those issues. To break up the indoor sessions, the teams spent some time performing teamwork activities on the Junior under the direction of the Assistant Chaplain, Adam Wharton, which was both entertaining and informative. The prefects’ training day was a worthwhile experience, and helped each prefect on their way to become a more effective and successful leader, while also creating contacts and bonds for the future with pupils in similar roles in other schools.
