CLUB EVENTS UPDATE

Thank you to those of you who have been in contact with me already regarding the proposed Club trip to Normandy. I am delighted to say I already have 6 vans on the provisional list so I am optimistic, at this stage at least, we can get enough vans together for the trip.
As I mentioned in the last issue, My thoughts are this...
A gentle 4 night/5 day trip (but see below) over to the Normandy beaches and places of interest with not too much driving. Travelling over by ferry from Portsmouth or Poole later in the year say around the end of September. This trip would be ideal for anyone who has not driven in France (or Europe) before or anyone who would like to build a bit more confidence driving overseas. We would not be travelling in the school holiday period so the roads and campsites would be quieter than the busy times.
Obviously, cost is a consideration for us all. The Portsmouth/Poole crossings will be more expensive than Dover ferries or the Tunnel. However, you will save money
on the fuel and tolls getting down to the Normandy beaches and there is less driving and much more relaxing! I know Brittany Ferries give discounts for a club rally depending on numbers of travellers. It will be cheaper to travel midweek as well. I will look at the pricing in detail later in the year and report back to you all when I have spoken to Brittany Ferries. Their September 2026 bookings are not open yet but they may be able to provide some ballpark figures.
In the meantime, if you are interested in joining us in principle, no commitment of course, please let me know and I can add you to the list. If you are interested in a slightly longer stay in France, please let me know as some people have asked if the trip could be over 5 or 6 nights.
