Well, where did we leave you. Ah yes ... about to depart on our journey to Kalletal.
We set off in convoy and had a good journey through beautiful countryside towards Kalletal.
Our destination was a farmhouse in the heart of this countryside. We were particularly excited to go past a big windmill on the way - one of Ann’s interests but time didn’t allow a visit on this occasion.
Arriving at the farmhouse we began to form a circle round the field and during the whole time we were there, other people joined us.
This was great as during the stay tables and chairs would be brought out into the middle of field in a long line and food and beers were the order of the days and evenings with everyone sharing. During the first evening Ulli, as we came to know him, while sitting at a table produced a guitar and started ‘busking’. We all gradually joined in singing with him when we knew the words. “A real Hippie moment” and a good way of getting to know each other.
The farmhouse was made up of several buildings, some from the 1800s. We made particular use of the large oak beamed barn which contained chairs, tables and facilities. A lovely old building.
