                                                               New Director of Sport
We extend a warm welcome to Lee Hilton, joining us in September to take up the role of Director of Sport.
A proud Lancastrian, Lee ventured down to Loughborough University to complete his degree in PE, Sports Science & Management and to achieve his PGCE qualification (as well as to meet his future wife, Vicky). Lee brings with him a wealth of experience in the independent sector, having served as a Director of Sport at King Edward & Queen Mary School, Bury Grammar School and Wellingborough School, alongside his experience as a Level 3 accredited coach in both rugby and cricket.
Professionally, Lee’s interests extend beyond the sporting arena, being an active member of the Safeguarding team at Wellingborough, and working with a number of local charities to support wellbeing concerns of young people. Personally, Lee is an accomplished sportsman having gained representative honours in rugby and cricket, although these days you will more likely see him cycling, running, in the gym or on his paddle-board.
Lee’s vision for sport and physical activity at Malvern is ‘person- centred’ - focused on how can we best support each individual to achieve their potential, unlock new interests and leave the school with a healthy relationship with exercise whether that be recreationally or as a professional.
Lee is married with two children (Ella, 19 and Tom 16) and puppy (Mani). As a family they enjoy getting out in ‘the great outdoors’ and are looking forward to exploring our beautiful part of the country.

Boys Tennis
Over the course of this term the boys have played some brilliant tennis but also collaborated with the girls in a couple of mixed doubles matches.
The junior boys have had a great run in the Hereford and Worcester LTA competition with Oliver Sirett (No.1), Felix Jack (SH), Sam Clements (SH) and Nicolas Tjan (No.9) playing in several matches. Winning several close games, Felix and Oli in particular came back from being 3-1 in games to win their singles matches.
Earlier in the term we had some success in the U16s County Doubles tournament, Dominik Tuczka (No.9) and Oliver Sirett (No.1) played some magnificent tennis in some very close matches but finished 3rd overall. The U18s singles competition saw five of our senior boys enter but despite some excellent games none of the boys got to a final. However, they all stayed to the very end of the tournament to support the girl’s tennis captain Alisa Gudkova (No.4) in the final.
House Competitions
In addition to tournaments and matches against other schools both the boys and girls took part in inter-house tennis competitions and this year saw us running all four competitions on the same day; both the junior girls and boys competitions and the senior boys and girls competitions.
Across all four tournaments there were some outstanding rallies, some clinical serving and brilliant work at the net. The results were as follows:
» Junior Boys: In 3rd place were House No.7, 2nd place went to House No.9 and the winners were School House (their first pair were unbeaten all afternoon).
» Junior Girls: With one game between the top three houses. In 3rd place were House No.4, 2nd place went to House No.6 and the winners were House No.8.
» Senior Boys: In 3rd place were House No.7, 2nd place House No.9 and the winners were House No.5.
» Senior Girls: In 3rd place were House No.3, 2nd place went to House No.8 and the winners were House No.4.
