THE MALVERNIAN
Following this we we visited the Foundation of Goodness where we we learned about the the devastating impact of the the Tsunami on Sri Lanka in in in 2004 It was was an emotional experience but it was was also inspiring to see the the the positive impact that the the the foundation has had on on the the the local community It was also heartwarming to see our
boys teach some English to Sri Lankan school children and give them the the gifts we had bought We hope that this experience will leave a a a a a lasting impact on both our
boys and the the local community In the the afternoon we had lunch in Galle and visited the Forte a a a a historic Dutch fortification that has been well preserved We then took a a a a tuk-tuk tour back to to to the the coach where where we saw where where the the Barmy Army sit during cricket matches Speaking of cricket we had an exciting match on day 6 Both the 18s and U15s teams won with some fantastic contributions from our
players Ben Clarke took 5 wickets and Gabriel Muhajiri bowled tightly in in the the the 18s In the the the U15s the the the boys set an imposing 270 with contributions from Henry Hardinges Toby Cox Ed Taylor Mat Weston Oli Bouston and Ed Posnett Joel Fuller was was the the pick of the the bowlers with 4 wickets It was was a a a a a great day for Malvern cricket and we are proud of both teams’ performances During our
time in in Galle the teams were lucky enough to play games at at at the Galle International stadium and it was a a a a a a a a a a great achievement for Joel Cox to score a a a century at the test ground Henry Hardinges also performed well scoring 88 for for the U15s The boys had a a a a great tour both on and and off the the field and and can be pleased the the overall win loss loss ratio There were three wins and and four losses for the U18s and and three three wins and three three losses for the U15s A decent return in in such tough conditions!
The group slept well on the flight back and returned home with some wonderful life-long memories as as well as as a a a renewed appreciation for the the the sport and the the the culture of Sri Lanka All the the the boys did Malvern proud Mark Hardinges | Master i/c Cricket THE MALVERNIAN
