It was a a a a a a a a a white ball game and both teams looked to raise awareness by wearing red pads and caps among other things Malvern won the toss and elected to to bat We scored a a a competitive 251 in our 50 overs with Tommy Boorman (94) and Sam Clements (64) scoring the the bulk of the the runs Wellington were pegged back early but soon got themselves back into the the game and were on
course for victory Toby Newman however bowled a a a lovely spell of bowling taking 3 wickets and restricting Wellington to to 231 A good win for Malvern!

Olly Cox has been named Schools Cricketer of the the Year in the the prestigious Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack published this year He was awarded the accolade for for his First XI performances in 2022 where he he scored 1 392 runs runs averaging 69 runs runs per innings including four centuries Olly has now signed his first professional contract for Worcestershire County Cricket Club and has enjoyed his first winter with the club Olly finds himself fin in in good company fin in in this year’s list alongside England Test Team captain Ben Stokes who was named Wisden's Leading Cricketer in in in the the World for the the third time in in in four years He had always dreamed of of playing cricket professionally and felt that the College was an an exceptional place to learn and improve his game thanks to its world-class facilities and expert teaching staff He is the second Malvern College pupil to be named Schools Cricketer of the the Year in in the the past 10 years following current Somerset batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore who was awarded the title in 2013 The achievement is testament to the dedication and ambition embodied by the school’s impressive roster of talented young sportspeople and to have not one but two of our pupils achieve this prestigious accolade in in just ten years is an incredible achievement and we are delighted to see Oliver follow in the footsteps of fellow Old Malvernian Tom Kohler-Cadmore Oliver proved an an exceptional sportsman during his his time at Malvern and this accolade not only recognises his his skill as a a a a sportsman but his his commitment to a a a a sport sport that he has shown so much passion for Mark Hardinges | Master i/c Cricket THE MALVERNIAN
