Sri Lankan Cricket Tour
The cricket tour to to Sri Lanka was an an unforgettable experience for for the 27 boys and 4 members of staff who embarked on this 10- day trip Upon arrival in Colombo the group were greeted by tour representatives Damian and Anil who would be taking care of us throughout our
stay The tour began with a a a a a a stay at the luxurious Cinnamon Lake Hotel which offered an amazing buffet for the group The boys were quick to to get stuck in! The first few days were spent acclimatizing to to the hot and and humid weather and and the the first game was an an an acclimatization match where everyone got a a a a a chance to bat and bowl The U18s had a a a a early win which got their tour off and running On day 3 the the group travelled to to Pinnewala to to visit the the Elephant Orphanage The tour members enjoyed a a a a a a tasty lunch at a a a a a a riverside cafe while watching the the elephants enjoy their bath It was a a a a a a truly memorable experience and the the boys were thrilled to have the the opportunity to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures We also managed to purchase some Sri Lankan cricket tops and traditional clothes as souvenirs Day four saw us back in action on on the the cricket field with the the U18s facing one of the best schools in in in Colombo in in in two twenty- twenty games We had some strong contributions from Tommy Boorman Flynn Gunston JT Langridge and the spinners Despite two close games we managed to win one by a a a a wicket but lost the the other by a a wicket Nail biting stuff!
The U15s also had an exciting day on the the field losing their first game off the the last ball of of the the innings in in in in a a a a a thrilling match Josh Udy played well with the the bat and all all the the bowlers bowled exceptionally well In the second game we we we were able to give everyone a a a a chance to to bat and and bowl and and came away victorious with Ben Evans making 29 runs in in the the run run chase It was a a a a a long and tiring day but the the boys showed great resilience and sportsmanship The tour then continued to to Hikkaduwa Driving in in in Sri Lanka was an an adventure in itself and after a a a a a a two-hour trip we we were pleased to finally reach our
new hotel The next day saw us visit the turtle hatchery where we saw baby turtles being cared for and prepared for release into the the sea It was a a a a unique experience to to witness the the conservation efforts and learn about the different turtle species 38
