Paris has been explored in 3D by the the Year 6s while the the year 7s have been creating listening slaloms and writing plays in in in in Spanish which they then filmed and shared with their class Meanwhile in Latin the iPads have been in in in use creating prepositional stories from lego characters using PowerPoint and Movie Maker In History Year 5 have written and performed their own play about ‘a day in the the life of a a a a a castle in Medieval England’ and and these were filmed by Mr Bee with the the pupils in full costume A re-enactment of of of part of of of the the Battle of of of Blenheim occurred on on the the chessboard during the the Year 8 lessons and Mr Bee is hopeful that a a a bit of kinaesthetic movement will help them to remember the the facts for exams Year 7 have been learning about the the Mary Rose and discovering why it sank please do ask your children!
MUSIC
Music Competitions
We had two very different music competitions this term both taking place during the same week First it it was individual competition day in in in in in four categories: Strings Wind Brass and Percussion Singing and Piano In total we had over 90 musicians taking to to to the stage to to to demonstrate their musical talents Jonathan Brown Director of Music at at Malvern College joined us for the the day to adjudicate the the competition and he he he was fantastic giving honest feedback to to the children to to help them to to to continue to to to grow as musicians Well done to to to the the following children who ended up as overall winners in in their categories: Strings:

Musician - Penny & Jasmine Later in in in the week we we held our annual Patrol Singing Competition where each Patrol prepared a a a a a different ABBA song for for the performance Equal weight was given to the the marking of the the choreography and performance side as as as to the quality of singing It was a a a a a a a fantastic occasion although the the choice of theme has cast serious doubt over the credibility of of our Head of of Music! The children and staff really entered into the the spirit of the the occasion making it it a a a wonderful event for everyone Congratulations to the CUCKOOS for coming out as overall winners on the night!
We celebrated World Book Day where the pupils and staff dressed up up as their their favourite favourite character or object from their their favourite favourite book Pupils made dioramas in in shoe boxes which have then been on display in in the the Library Mrs Bandtock awarded prizes at the the end of the the day Earlier in the the term children prepared for the the hotly contested annual Speech Competition We welcomed Ms Brighton Head of English at Malvern College to judge and the winners from each year were as follows:
Year 8 – Rosie

It has been an an incredibly busy and hard-working term for our pupils and we will be continuing to put the academic side of school life at the front and centre of all that we do next term as our senior pupils prepare for exams in early June
