MUSIC continued Performances
There were several Performing Arts Showcases this term and the children have been as as as fantastic as as as ever They put themselves forward for these showcases which is is why it is is so heartening to have such full programmes for the school audience to enjoy This term also saw the the the wonderful Pre-Prep children taking to the the the stage in in in their Spring Concert featuring class songs solo performances and a a a a a whole Pre- Prep performance of of of the the song ‘Proud of of of our School’ To all of of of the the children who have given performances this term well done and thank you for being so so awesome!
Exams
There were a a a small number of children who took music exams this term so congratulations go to:

Chapel
We We had some wonderful Chapel
services during the term We We started by by welcoming Mr Fisher from Rugby School who gave a a a a fascinating talk about the Star of Bethlehem to mark epiphany This was very thought-provoking and and a a a a lot of pupils were encouraged to go and and look through our fabulous new telescope! We also welcomed Mr Hayden from Cheltenham College who gave a a a a a a very inspiring talk about integrity focusing on various historical figures and also applying this to our lives at school At the the beginning of of the the second half of of term we we welcomed Mr Pitt from RGS who gave another inspiring talk on on collaboration with some wonderful examples and a a a a a a very amusing visual demonstration involving a a a a hula hoop and cream eggs! Mr Doodes from King’s Worcester also followed our termly theme of collaboration and looked at the the bible reading about the the body of Christ applying this to school and how important each person is The Chapel

and Junior Choirs sang superbly at each Chapel

service and these have been very special occasions The Chapel
has also been beautifully decorated by the children each time with flowers and berries from the grounds The windowsills full of snow drops were particularly beautiful ART
Spring is always the the term for scholarships and competitions in in the the Art room This term started off on a a a very positive note with two art art scholarships awarded by Malvern College to Eliyah and Nell Huge congratulations to them Competition is fierce and all the the art scholars put in so much work to to get their their skills and their their portfolios up to to the the the required level The annual Malvern St James Prep School Art Competition is a a a a a highlight of of the art calendar Four pieces of of work are selected per year group and with the the children so keen to to complete their work to to the highest standard it makes my job of selecting just four extremely difficult Congratulations go to the following for having work submitted and and in particular to Ellie Bruno and and Olivia who achieved ‘Highly Commended’ and to Scarlett who won the Year 6 3D category with her wonderful Gaudi-inspired pot Year 1:

» Issy » Isla » Olivia Shrewsbury Art Competition is also in in our Spring calendar and this year we we were delighted that Sol in Year 7 was selected as as a a a a a a finalist and Ava in Year 6 received a a a a Bronze award As there were over 200 entrants in her age group this was an amazing achievement!
Meanwhile back in in the Art room it it has been business as as usual with pupils completing all sorts of different projects from clay tiles and architectural drawings to lino prints and plaster sculptures Next term we we have a a a a a large ceramic mural to construct outside the Howe Room with giant flowers and and lots lots and and lots lots of bees We can’t wait!
