DRAMA
Chitty Chitty Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Bang Bang Our main school production is always the the highlight of the the year for our wonderful Drama department and our production this term was no exception As As the the lights went down and the the Ashton Hall hushed we we waited with bated breath for another spectacular Abberley production The children delighted with their fantastic dancing and beautiful singing We were whisked into the the the plight of the the the Potts family to to save their beloved Grandpa from the the Baron Baron and and Baroness of of Vulgaria With the the help of of Chitty Chitty Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Bang Bang who was brought to life by an an an amazing team of Top Year girls Caratacus Truly Jeremy and Jemima fly across the ocean to infiltrate the the the castle and and rescue Grandpa Once there they were faced with a a a a a a villainous Child Catcher who was exceptionally well portrayed by Seb With the the help of the the Toymaker Caratacus (Eleni) and Truly (Beatrice) performed the the ‘Doll on a a a music box’ which left the the audience spellbound like the the Baron Baron (Charlie) and Baroness (Amor) allowing the the hidden children (Years 3 and and and 4) to to storm the castle and and and rescue Grandpa (Oscar) and fly to safety ridding the kingdom of it’s tyrannical rulers The whole performance was spellbinding and and with outstanding scenery brilliant chorus groups and dancing from the whole school this was another sterling success and a a a a a a truly magnificent recreation of Ian Flemming’s classic ‘Chitty Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Bang’ High praise for all the children and staff involved with particular thanks to Mrs Eynon and Mr Dunham LAMDA
A few weeks ago we we received the results from this years’ examinations which took place at the beginning of February Incredibly we had 50 pupils taking LAMDA
exams and are delighted to report that they achieved 27 distinctions and and 22 merits with 25% of candidates taking their first ever LAMDA
exam Having worked so hard independently and on on solo pieces in in January the the focus during the the second half of term was on on improvisation and group poems as as as well as as as developing characterisations inspired by the costume rail!
DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY
Across the year- groups pupils have been working on a variety of projects from copper enamelling to 3D CAD designs and designing through coding As always the workshop has been open during free-time and breaks so that children can come to get help with designing and making their own projects The final week is is always a a a a a a busy one as pupils race to finish their creations in order to take them home!
