PRE-PREP ROUND-UP
It has been another busy term in the the Pre- Prep with so many highlights We celebrated World Book Day with the children and staff either bringing in in in in a a prop or dressing up as a a a a character from their favourite book We held a a a a parade to show off the outfits and Years 1 and 2 read their favourite book to the Early Years children Children from Year Year 2 also read the the book they had written to staff and pupils We held both an an an Early Years and and Key Stage 1 Swimming Gala and and both were watched and supported by parents The children had a a a a a fabulous time showing off the the water skills they have learnt with a a a a a variety of races and activities Nursery 1 Nursery 1’s topics have been Spring Mother’s Day and Easter The children have enjoyed lots of walks during Outdoor Exploring looking for the the the signs of Spring they have watched the the the daffodils grow and found frogspawn in in a a a a pond which led to the children learning about the lifecycle of a a a a a Frog We have celebrated Chinese New Year and St David’s Day by making handprint dragons and and our Spring display boards are looking very colourful with daffodils and paper plate lambs The highlight of our cookery sessions was when the children made pancakes Obviously flipping was the the favourite part and they found it it very funny when the the pancakes landed on the the floor Circle time with Lola Lola has has been been lots of fun and educational For Easter Lola Lola has has been been hiding different coloured eggs around the classroom and this has encouraged counting recognising colours and positional language Our Showcase was an an opportunity for for our young musicians to perform Five brave pianists from Reception played for the first time in front of an an an audience In Year 1 1 three of the children played piano and 1 1 played played the the the drums drums In Year 2 one of the the the children played played the the the drums drums two played the piano and one sang a a a a a a a solo Each class performed their own individual song and we all came together for the the the Showcase finale a a a a song titled “We are proud of our school” The children sang this with such passion and and enjoyment and and I know there were some tears shed Pre-Prep clubs have made the the the the most of the the the the outdoors as the the the the weather has got better and everyone is looking forward to more outdoor fun next term The arrival of some Spring lambs in in school as as well as as an Easter egg hunt marked the the end to another happy and fun-filled term in the Pre-prep Nursery 2 In the Nursery 2 classroom we have constructed an indoor tree house and the the room is is looking particularly colourful as it it is is decorated with the the children’s Spring themed artwork For mathematics each child child made a a a a a bird’s nest and and cut out a a a a a set of ten eggs and and we have used these to play a a a a a variety of games Our recent PE sessions have involved an assortment of obstacle courses which we created in the Sports Hall and for our final session the the children tackled the the Prep School’s outdoor obstacle course We also celebrated Chinese New Year by making savoury noodles which the children took home for tea To celebrate St David’s Day the children painted daffodils and baked Welsh cakes For Mother’s Day each child painted a a a a a picture of their mummy they they also had a a a a list of questions which they they asked their mummy’s These questions helped to inform us of favourite colour food and what their mummy was really good at at As you can imagine we we we had some unexpected answers that were very amusing Thank you mums for helping with this activity and yes we will do a a a a similar activity for Father’s Day!!
