The Ant Story
We continued to ascendat a very fast speed, and soon the surface of the earth was nothing more than a blur of browns and green. Even though the sky was cloudless as we ascended, we began to see large expanses of cloud formations appear in thin wispy swirls that covered sizable portions of the earth.
Our view over the edges of the basket was diminishing the higher we went, and soon it became quite convenient that our basket had a glass bottom that allowed us to look down as we sped away from the earth.
“Here, Ant, climb onto my finger. I shall put you on the floor where you will have a better view out the bottom.” Ant quickly moved onto my finger that I had placed next to him and I put my finger on the floor for him to climb off. He hesitated, and I could hardly blame him. It is quite unnerving to look out the glass bottom of something that is dividing you between safety and certain death. The glass bottom was very clear; and if it was not for my feet resting upon it, you would not have even known that it was there. Ant moved very slowly, and once he was off my finger he stood perfectly still as he looked out the bottom of the basket in utter astonishment.
