We ascended through the earth’s atmosphere and into outer space. The world was nothing more than a large ball covered in swirls of blue, brown, white, and green. It was quite some time before either of us spoke—we were both too amazed at what we were seeing to talk or describe what we were feeling or observing.
“You know, I was thinking,” Ant said pensively, breaking the deafening silence. “When we first started to go up, I couldn’t believe how endless the world was. My brain could not process what my eyes were seeing. But now I am not feeling so small. It is not that I am getting any bigger, but it seems that the world is getting much smaller. Isn’t that strange? At first it seemed incredibly huge, and now it seems manageably small!”
As Ant was saying this, I was struck by a thought that was triggered by what he said. “But of coarse!” I exclaimed, “We are gaining a perspective of the world. This has helped
