Numerous other achievements are noted in this document (see also table 3 and 4 below).
These achievements have led to over 1600 new and potential jobs created. For instances:

                   • Textile value chain: as a result of introducing and scaling up the electric sheep shearing
practice in the project target regions, over 700 new jobs created and retained. It is
estimated that if at least 5 shearers work in each soum, at least 1,500 new jobs can
                       be created.
                   • Leather value chain: over 900 new jobs were estimated in the rural livestock regions
in terms of transferring the innovative technology Static Flaying Frame (SFF) that
contributed to improve labor productivity and increase value of raw materials. If 3
persons work in each 300 soum, total 900 new jobs can be created.

It has also greatly improved the productivity in meat, leather and fibre supply chains as well
as greatly improving quality of livestock products. With international best practices and know-
how shared contribution to the job creation and decent employment in the leather, textile, meat
and dairy value chains, the classroom and practical training sessions were delivered to 1511
(46% women) project direct and indirect beneficiaries in 2020 (See table 4 below).

Achievements are already being replicated by the Government of Mongolia (GOM) and
MoFALI programmes under national funding with national expertise using international
standards as developed under the UNIDO implemented activities. Furthermore, key
interventions used by the private sector to export high value-added products complied with
international standards and designs for quality supply chain systems.

The project has been implemented in close cooperation with MoFALI and contributed greatly
to GOM priority programmes including Sustainable Development Vision 2030, Action
Programmes of Government of Mongolia for 2016-2020 and 2020-2024, Industrialization
21:100, Cashmere, Meat and Dairy, Healthy Food-Healthy Mongolians, Mongol Export and
Packaging and Labelling as well as Social programme for Cooperatives Development III
(2019-2024) and Mongolian Herder National Programme (2020-2024).
During this reporting period the SECiM project was one of the important topics presented and
discussed at a High-Level Meeting between the Minister of MoFALI and Director-General of
UNIDO in Vienna in February 2020. The Minister recognized UNIDO’s continuous technical
assistance in the field of agri-business in Mongolia and requested to expand its portfolio in the
country to support light industry processing and added value with international technologies
and standards. Clear guidance on priority activities of the project work plan was exchanged
between the implementing partners during this meeting. This official mission was organized
under the leadership of Mr. Ralf Bredel, UNIDO Representative ad interim and Chief of Asia
and the Pacific Regional Division in close coordination with Agri-business department.

The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) for the SECIM/UNIDO component included strong
national expertise of the National Project Coordinator, National Textile Industry Expert,
National eLearning Expert, National Monitoring and Evaluation Expert, Training assistant and
Translator as well as short term National and International Leather, Fibre, Meat and Dairy
experts. Moreover, 11 international experts have continuous provided inputs over the project
in each sub component (Appendix 3).
International experts’ final in-country missions were curtailed due to COVID travel restrictions.
Even so, 4 international experts in textile, leather, meat and dairy value chains continued to
provide on-line technical assistance and expertise including training webinars. A series of
webinars for leather industry were conducted on the following topics by UNIDO’s international
