& MOBILITY
VVietnam’s mobility industry is valued at 3319 billion VND in 2023. In this booklet, we focus on two
industries in the mobility sector, which are automotive and aviation. As of 2021, motorcycles and
mopeds still accounted for 93% of all vehicles used by Vietnamese people. However, this situation is
expected to change in the upcoming years with a rising percentage of car users. Vietnam’s automotive
market is now the fastest-growing in Southeast Asia, growing 18% annually. Imported foreign cars,
especially those from Japan and Korea, for their affordability in price and maintenance costs, are most
popular in Vietnam due to the nation’s limited production capacity. In 2021, the most popular car
choices among Vietnamese consumers were Nissan and Toyota. Although electric cars and autonomous
vehicles are evolving, they are still taking up a negligible portion of the market.
In terms of the aviation industry, state-owned Vietnam Airlines still dominates the market with the
highest market share. Nevertheless, competition is becoming increasingly fierce in the private sector,
with companies like Vietjet Air boasting its low-cost airlines or Bamboo Airways boasting its punctuality
advantage. Vietnam’s aviation industry is also struggling to recover after the pandemic, and the most
serious issue is the inadequate infrastructure to meet surging travel demands.
Job entrance opportunities remain mainly through traditional job openings, with low scores in terms of
management trainee or talent development programs for incoming freshmen.
