Intelligence, Information Technology Management Program.
“The VinUniversity Library is not just a physical space for holding books, it is a
knowledge repository, a training space, and a point of meeting for creative minds”
Tony Tin, Director of Library and Learning Resources
The VInUniersity Library is a major asset to the Computer Science (CS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and
Information technology management (ITM) program. It is described here in terms of its facilities.
holdings and specialized services related to these programs.
Opened in 2021 and located at the main building, the VinUniversity Library has two levels with 4,000
square meters of floor area that can accommodate more than 1,000 students. The library showcases
an innovative architectural design that is inspired by a sunrise scene on the terraced fields of the
northern mountainous areas in Vietnam.
The library is “digital-resource” bound with 65% of the library resources being electronic, focusing on
the use of digital technologies in a contextual way including 24/7 remote access, e-reserve, library
portal, RFID, self-serve check-out, Internet of things, and webchat services. The library holds more than
2,960 printed materials and have access to more than 974,529 electronic resources to support
university program (Appendix 1: E-resource Collection). It is s a research and learning hub that
provides a diverse array of learning tools, technologies, services, and resources that fosters the
shared development of teaching, learning, research, information literacy, and successful learning
outcomes.
It takes a great pride to be the the first academic library in the country to deploy the cutting-edge Ex-
Libris integrated library system to facilitate easy access to library resources. Primo, a discover service
platform serves as a single interface for everything found in the Library catalogue; including the
resources of all VinUni library as well as links to hundreds of millions of online open access full-text
journal articles available. Access is provided on the Library homepage, allowing faculty, students, and
to place hold requests for circulating materials online and have the items held and picked up at the
library. Copies of print journal articles can also be digitized and delivered by email via the e-library
services. Faculty, graduate students, and staff may borrow a majority of monographs for a term at a
time.
The Library Resource Planning Committee, a standing committee of the University Academic Council
with representation from students, faculty and staff, makes recommendations regarding the policy and
operations of the library. (Appendix 2: Learning Resouces Planning Committee’s Terms of Reference).
