Reflections of A Life Well Lived

Curtis Lee Webb was born on Friday, November 16, 1934 in Homer, Louisiana to a
loving mother and father, Mrs. Rosie Lee Manning-Webb and Mr. Curley Webb. He

was the second child and only son born to this union of seven children. Curtis loved his

family dearly and dedicated his life to helping to support his parents and sisters.

When he was a baby, his mother looked into his eyes and noticed that his eyes reflected

bright light just like the moon in the sky reflects light. So, she called him “Moon”. Her

prayer was that her son would reflect light and positivity everywhere he went. Thus, his

nickname: “Moon” lasted for a lifetime.

He grew up in the Mt. Pisgah Community where he attended church and school. As

times changed, he attended Homer Colored High School in Homer, Louisiana.

As a young male growing up in a rural community, he learned to do every job there was

to do on the farm from growing and harvesting agricultural crops, attending cattle,

hunting, to mechanics. His curiosity caused him to quickly outgrow his surroundings.

This led him to leave home and pursue work opportunities and a better way of life in

          Dallas, Texas.

It was there that he learned to set personal goals for himself and go as far as God and his

ability would take him. He got a job in a diverse company and his boss noticed that he

could communicate easily with people from different backgrounds and ethnic groups,
causing him to get the work done quickly and more accurately. He was promoted due to

his ability to bring people of diverse backgrounds together. He had the soft skills

needed to work with Latinos, African Americans, Asians, and Caucasians. However,

his yearning to help his family back in Louisiana led him to leave Texas, with his first
cousin, Elroy Webb, and depart for better opportunities in California.

Once in California, he used his people skills to take advantage of educational

opportunities to learn additional work skills. He then secured a home for his parents and

his sisters in Los Angeles. His main goal in life was to make sure that his younger
sisters had better opportunities than he had experienced in Louisiana.
