Reflections of A Life Well Lived
and other recreational activities.
Curtis was always generous with his time, talents, and resources. He believed that you
should help and serve whenever and wherever you are needed without expecting
anything in return. He served whenever he was called upon. He was frequently called
upon to fix plumbing and electrical problems in his community. He provided personal
care services for his uncle Verdis, until his death. He served as an administrator
overseeing the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery grave assignments, under the direction of the
church’s cemetery committee.
He was a lifelong learner! He believed that when you stopped learning, you become
irrelevant! He frequently attended seminars and workshops related to Louisiana’s
forestry and natural resources. He started a Quail Farm because he learned how
nutritious they were for meat and eggs. Also, he could promote healthy hunting
practices, and recreation as Louisiana’s nickname is “A Sportsman’s Paradise”! He
became friends with the hunters in the area and maintained those contacts throughout
his life.
His love and caring spirit will forever be remembered by his three daughters Eulynda
Porter (Ray), Sonya Brown (Steven), Zaneta Stetsunova (Sasha); one step-son Sean
Kelly; grandchildren; Nikolay and Lyudmilla; sisters: Catherine Warrior, Jo Ann Hill,
Brenda Dillon (Robert); Special son Allen Simmons and his children who fondly called
Curtis “Papa”; a host of relatives and close friends.
