MSDS Review
1. Before working with a substance, especially for the first time, you should:
(a) Check the MSDS
(b) Check the label
(c) Check both the label and the MSDS
2. Would you usually find the following information on a label, MSDS, or both?
(a) Symptoms of acute and chronic overexposure.
(b) Information on the specific PPE you should wear.
(c) Immediate first aid information.
3. Consult the MSDS for Ethylene Glycol Antifreeze MSDS (pages 35-36) to answer the
following. You are working with Ethylene Glycol Antifreeze and need to transfer some of
it to a portable container.
(i) After consulting the MSDS, you find out that the PPE you need for routine handling of
this material is:
(a) chemical goggles and rubber gloves
(b) dust mask and rubber gloves
(c) rubber gloves
(d) self-contained breathing apparatus
(ii) An employee has experienced some eye irritation for several weeks, since about the
time he started using this product. You check the MSDS to see whether the symptoms
could be related and discover:
(a) The antifreeze could be causing the problem.
(b) The antifreeze is likely not causing the problem.
