Exercise 5: WHMIS Training Plan

Develop a training plan, considering the following:

1. Identify who in your municipality you will be training (e.g., all staff, parks & recreation, public
works, all summer students, etc).

2. Determine how the generic portion will be done. Will workbooks be distributed in advance?
Will you use any training videos? How many people will be in each class?
Where will you hold the training? How long will it take?
3. How will you determine site-specific needs?

 Do you know what controlled products participants work with - are there different groups
with different needs?
 Is there an inventory?
 Do you know handling, storage, emergency procedures for these controlled products?
 How long will it take?
