 The Clerk’s o ce brings in $100,000 for Clinton Township taxpayers
I’m proud to announce that by late last November, my sta  had processed more than $100,000 worth of passport applica ons. No previous Clinton Township Clerk's o ce has o ered such excep onal service or brought in as much revenue. We’ve worked hard to become known for o ering courteous and helpful passport processing services. If you need a passport, you can walk in Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary. To accommodate those who can’t come in during our regular hours, we o er late night appointments two nights a month – the  rst and third Thursday of the month. Safety  ps from your Clinton Township Fire Department
    The winter months usually have us spending more  me indoors making it the perfect opportunity to inspect appliances and take steps to reduce the risk of house  res.
Is your furnace opera ng e ciently?
Check to see if the air  lter in your furnace needs replacing. If you haven’t had your furnace inspected in some  me, have it looked at by a quali ed technician. Regular maintenance can help prevent safety issues, such as the risk of  re, the dangers posed by unhealthy gas fumes, and lethal carbon monoxide leaks.
What you can’t smell can kill you
Consider purchasing a carbon monoxide detector, or CO detector, or a combina on CO/Smoke detector. CO is a silent killer which cannot be detected by smell.
How old are your smoke detectors?
Most smoke detectors have a 10-year life-span. Check the date printed on the detector to see if yours need to bereplaced.Whenchangingba eries,considerinstalling 10-year lithium ba eries.
Your clothes dryer can be a  re risk
The accumula on of lint in your dryer vent can cause the dryer to overheat and possibly start a  re. Inspect it to
make sure it’s clear and allowing proper air ow.
Grease is NOT the word!
A er cooking or baking, keep your range free of grease and other materials that can ignite. Consider installing a  re ex nguisher in the kitchen area of the house.
Is your basement used for storage?
Make sure you keep storage items away from your furnace and hot water heater. Numerous  res have started by having items placed too close to the  ames produced by these appliances.
Avoid overloading electrical outlets
Make sure you haven’t created a  re risk by overloading the power outlets and extension cords used in your home and garage.
Don’t forget to inspect your garage
Check the items you store in your garage that hold fuel and make sure no source of heat or  re comes near. According to theCTFD,someoftheworst  res in the Township started in a ached garages that spread into the house.
