Acceptable and Unacceptable Documentation definitions are the same as Summer Seasonal Staff. All Time-Off requests and documentation must be turned in to the Recreation office directly following the absence and before your next shift begins.
Special Events Staff
Throughout the school year, you can sign up to be considered for special event work. You will work various one day events (Holiday Express, etc.) If you agree to work, we are counting on you to show up & work your assigned shift. If you cannot work, you must notify the Recreation office.
Due to federal law and Township policy, you must work a special event before December and between January and May to be eligible for school year employment. If you miss working one of the Fall events – you cannot re-join our staff until the new summer program begins. See the following chart:

Call the office before your shift begins in any absence situation excused or unexcused. Call (586) 286-9336 at any time and leave a message stating why you cannot work.
First unexcused absence:
Written reprimand & ineligible to work the special events for the rest of that season. Season definition: Summer: June - August
Fall: September – December
Winter/Spring: January - May
Second unexcused absence:
May result in termination or suspension for all special events.
There are certain instances when obtaining an approved substitute is an option. Please call the office at least three business days before the event to see if substitutes are allowed and how to obtain one.
