A Premonition
The last Television programme Samuel, the children and I watched together was Apollo’s
Return trip from the Moon- 1969. Strange for we seldom watched Television as a family.
The children had their favourite programmes and we had ours.

That night we’d all gone to bed. It was a live programme and by Bangkok time very late in
the night. But apparently Samuel had kept awake…

He came up and called to us. We went down half-heartedly, trying to shake off sleep. But
Samuel seemed so keen we watch the programme together. I think we did it to please him.
But eventually did enjoy viewing the landing and sharing our own comments and views too.

Thinking back, I am so happy we did share in this family viewing together. So rare in the
family, for this would remain a special family event in our memory.

Was it a premonition on Samuel’s part? I’ve often wondered. It was as if he had walked
into the new “Space Era” hand in hand with the children before saying “Goodbye”.

We travelled to Ceylon soon after and then the end…
