By the end of the year nearly two thirds of accredited agencies had transitioned to the 4-year process, and web-based assessments were successfully conducted for year one and year two assessment years.
In June, Chairperson Richard Myers attended the PERF –Critical Issues in Policing Series in Washington, D.C., which focused on The Future of Emergency Communications. As a part of the
event Chairperson Myers was provided an opportunity to discuss the role of CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation and how it supports the management of emerging issues and the delivery of services.

In February RPM Tim Baysinger represented CALEA in the NORC NIJ project pertaining to Of cer Safety and Wellness Study through the University of Chicago. The project involved the development of both agency level
and of cer level data collection survey instruments focused on of cer safety and wellness.
In February an audit was conducted by Raffa, P.C. The primary purpose is to
give reasonable assurance that nancial statements are accurate and complete and are in accordance with general accepted accounting principles. The ndings were favorable, and the audit was a success.
CALEA staff met with representatives from Genesis Insurance, Lockton Companies, and MIRMA in April 2017. This meeting served as a venue for discussing how accreditation and insurance organizations can collectively support the law enforcement industry. Meetings with Genesis Insurance continued throughout the year for further discussion on how to support accreditation.
Commissioner Joseph Schafer conducted research focused on trends in the recruitment and selection of quali ed police personnel by CALEA Accredited agencies. During the July conference he reported the ndings which supports the value of CALEA Accreditation.
