News From Our District Committees

BRIEF INFORMATION FROM OUR 2021-2022 TERM

       WE ENDURE GREAT SUFFERING...

We all feel deep sorrow for the fires that have been continuing for about five days in various regions of our country.
With these fires we, not only lose our forests but also our people, villages, animals in the nature and economy, bees
that are one of the fundamental components for ecological balance, rich habitat, so many priceless values with
which we have created our memories, our future in some sense.

Unfortunately, it will take years for these areas to regenerate. We will need to wait at least a year to start work for
       reforestation.

As the 2430 District, we came together with all our Presidents on Saturday, 31 July, under the leadership of our
       Governor.

All our clubs are ready to help.

We, as the DISASTER COMMITTEE, are awaiting to receive the list for emergency aid that is to be shared by
AFAD with Ankara province or district governorships.

This list prepared in 3 days is being delayed due to the continuing fires and widening of the burnt areas as days
past. We hope that it is completed as soon as possible.

As we are required to move on in line with the circular, we have made all the relevant arrangements and plans and
       awaiting instructions.

Currently, it seems that essential needs such as food and water are being met by the nearby hotels and that many
people, other than those who keep staying in the village, prefer to accommodate at relatives thus solving the
       accommodation problem.

Tent cities are built for evacuated villages. This highly responds the accommodation need. The need for medicines
is solved thanks to the pharma companies.

Our Manavgat Rotary Club President Hüseyin Bey spent very intensive efforts to help us for this issue. On behalf of
my ROTARY family, I would like to extend him our gratitude.

I would also like to thank my ROTARY family as well as all ROTARACT and INTERACT brothers and sisters.

Related with the big fires we are currently living with, we will soon be sharing the details on what we can do and how
we can help those people affected by it.
With our Rotarian regards and love...
       Erol DAİ
