Great Britain & Ireland and Turkey Inter Country Committee Received Charter Certificate

ICC National Coordinator for Turkey

A new section is added to the Inter Country Committees (ICC) that plays an important role in supporting wide-scale
projects addressing Rotary's strategic focus areas, while enlarging Rotary's service areas where peace has the
highest priority.

The protocol already signed by ICC Great Britain&Ireland (GB&I) and Turkey, represented by the Past Term IR
Director Şafak Alpay, Zone 19-20 Director Nikki Scott, Zone 21-22 Director Katerina Kotsali-Papadimitriou, gained
official acceptance through the charter ceremony held on a Zoom platform on 11 July 2021. The ceremony was
participated by ICC Executive Council President Cyril Noirten, ICC Great Britain&Ireland National Coordinator
James Onions, 1145 District Governor Roger Stent, 1020 District Governor Ken Robertson, 1130 District Governor
Selwyn Foreman, 2420 District Governor Gülperi Gürpınar, 2430 District Governor Kemal Ketrez, England-Turkey
Chamber of Commerce President Chris Gaunt, PDG Malik Aviral, PDG Müfit Ülke, ICC Turkey 2440 District
Representative PTG Reha Akın, ICC Turkey Secretary General Muzaffer Başaran and other guests. Furthermore,
the ceremony was on GB&I's Facebook as live broadcast. The ceremony was chaired by PTG Murat Çelik the
previous term ICC Turkey National Coordinator. Held within a friendly and warm atmosphere, GB&I Turkey Section
Head Rtn. Grace Gibbs briefed the audience on the developments with the process until receiving the charter and
Turkey GB&I Section Head PTG Canan Ersöz explained the activities planned for the upcoming period.

Among the plans of GB&I-Turkey ICC Section are to organize a RYLA for youth aged 18 and over, focusing on the
environment as the main theme; to support signing of agreements between new twinning clubs; to assist clubs for
finding partners for their global donations; to promote ROFIFE in Great Britain and Ireland; and Rotakids.

The ceremony was closed with a mini concert by our dear musician flutist Mihriban Aviral.
