News From Our Rotary Clubs

SUMMER CAMP FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND MOTHERS

Belief in the strength of serving lies in the heart of Rotary. When we prioritize serving, it means that we place needs
of others above those of our own. We empathize with challenges of other people while being more generous in
spending our time and resources. Being a Rotarian enables us this unique opportunity, the opportunity of a
gratuitous service with which we highly contribute to ourselves.

Our Adana Rotary Club organized a camp during 12-15 July 2021 for 17 children and youth with special needs,
together with their mothers. This event was jointly organized with the “Bizde Varız Supporting Association”.

Our Term Governor Kemal Ketrez and dear Burcu also met with the camp participants who enjoyed the seaside
camp for 3 days. They joined various activities such as swimming, painting, stringing beads and dancing with
music in the evening, thus socializing and spending a joyous time. In addition, the mothers were provided with
training sessions delivered by expert psychologists.

The project was supported by Necip Topuz, the Mayor of Karataş and by Bilal Uludağ, the Mayor of Sarıçam.
Furthermore, participation support was provided by Ankara Koru RC, Ankara Başkent RC, Adana Çukurova RC,
Adana 5 OCAK RC, Adana Tepedağ RC and Safranbolu RC. This organization was a great gift for the Rotarians
enabling them to touch the lives of those “special” children and their families and to witness the happiness of the
children and mothers.
