Red no longer the footprints of our great explorers
Franklin, Cook and Clive,
Livingstone, Stanley and Scott,
Their adventures still stirring the hearts of men,
The sun ne’er setting on their courage
and fortitude.
Proud men of stature
Enriching the spirit of man.
Red no longer their memorial
But the blood spilled
By Man’s inhumanity to Man.
No longer the footprints of glorious men
But the iron fist of barbarous, inglorious men
Forever in the shadows
With their wars and revolution,
Their political and religious strife and insurrection
Destroying the spirit of man.
Famine and poverty God’s vengeance
On these malevolent men.
This poor World – full of care
Though not of caring.
