We have used it once or maybe twice
It still looks, indeed, very nice –
For a plant stand it has served
It was certainly bought
At a very high price.
There’s a prayer plant
And azaleas and hyacinths too.
There are cones from the fir tree
(In the fruit bowl I made)
There’s even an ashtray
From down-under – Adelaide.
The trolley is there for all to see
Though it’s rarely used for afternoon tea.
At the end of the table from
where I’m sat
A basket of flowers from Nigel and Pat.
A joy to Mother
On Mother’s Day
Added joy to remind her
Of her connubial spray.
There’s carnations and freesias
And gypsophila, too,
In a bed of fir fronds
Of the most delicate hue.
