Step 1
Baseline Assessment &
Risk-Factor Management
• Perform full oral examination: document mucosal health, caries
activity, plaque levels, prosthetic appliances, and saliva flow.
• Confirm ImpetusDX Oral Health Panel results indicating
low detected levels. Continue to Step 2a.
• Confirm ImpetusDX Oral Health Panel results indicating
medium or high detected levels. Continue to Step 2b.
• Assess systemic and local risk factors: xerostomia, diabetes,
immunosuppression, smoking, medications, antibiotic exposure,
or high-sugar diet.
• Reinforce oral hygiene: powered brushing, interdental cleaning,
tongue hygiene, and denture or appliance cleaning.
• Manage diet and environmental factors: reduce fermentable
carbohydrates, acidic beverages, and encourage hydration.
Step 2a
Preventive or Routine Management
(Low Levels)
• Emphasize biofilm stabilization and preventive care—no
pharmacologic therapy required.
• Perform routine prophylaxis or localized debridement if
inflammation or plaque present.
• Recommend short-term antiseptic rinse (0.12% chlorhexidine or
essential-oil rinse) for 1–2 weeks if minor irritation observed.
• Reinforce fluoride use for enamel protection and probiotic or xylitol
products for microbial balance.
• Reassess risk factors such as dry mouth, diet, and hygiene
compliance.
• Routine recall every 6 months, with optional re-testing annually or
if symptoms develop.
• If pathogen levels increase or clinical changes occur → transition
to Step 2b.
