Will you have difficulty in transitioning between the
two genres as they could be described as being the
polar opposite of each other?
I have participated in the production of various popular
contemporary Vietnamese TV shows such as The Face 2019, 7 Nu
cuoi xuan season 1, Ky uc vui ve season 1 and 2, Rap Viet All Star
Concept 2021. In my opinion, in order to produce a proper show
about Tuong, it requires a lot of comprehensive research from my
side and quite the implementation time from both me and the crew.
Hence, it will be somewhat a challenge for me.
Can you apply the knowledge and experience you have
accumulated in working for one genre to the other?
Speaking from all of my experiences working with TV shows and
liveshows, I believe that I can reconcile both genres into one show
in terms of organization, however, the content of such shows will
definitely be difficult for the crew, just like what I have mentioned
before. The reason is that since Tuong and contemporary shows
have such different audiences in categories such as demographic
and preference, I will have to come up with unique approaches so
that the show in general and an old topic like Tuong in particular can
catch the attention of both audiences.
Is there any similarity between traditional theatre arts
and contemporary TV shows?
The obvious answer would be no, of course. Nonetheless, if you have
enough bravery in your heart to change the variations then maybe
Tuong can become something popular among the youths, you can
even integrate rap into it for example. (laughs)
