knot tight and you have completed a square knot.  The
              completed knot is illustrated in figure 18f.

            Note: An easy way to remember how to tie this knot is by
            reciting a simple mnemonic phrase which goes, “Right over
            left, left over right, then pull the knot tidy and tight.”

            It’s worth pointing out that if you tie this knot incorrectly,
            you’ll end up with what is known as a “granny knot.” Even
            with the limitations of the square knot, it’s still better than
            a granny knot.  It’s quite easy to tell if you tied a granny or
            a square knot.  You do this by looking at each side of the
            knot.  If you tied the square knot correctly, the left side
            should have a working end and the standing part under a
            bight.  The right side should have a working end and the
            standing part over a bight. Figure 19 shows what the knot
            will look like if you tied it incorrectly and actually tied a
            granny knot.
