Mario Santiago was walking down a hallway inside Wilkinson County
Correctional Facility (WCCF) when he heard the voice of Santhie Womack,
the horticulture instructor.
“Santiago!” she called. He turned and saw her rushing in his direc-
tion. He wondered if there was a fight or if someone was in trouble. It was
neither.
“Hola,” she said, as she approached him. “¿Cómo estás?” She wanted to
speak to him in Spanish.
“Hola,” he said with a big grin. “Muy bien.”
