What do I do while the sheep are grazing? I can’t even go off to sleep

under the tree for the fear of a wolf attacking the sheep. Oh yes! The
wolf! Let me fool these villagers. I will shout, ‘Wolf! Wolf!’, and scare

them. They will come running to save the sheep and I will laugh at
                              them.

The boy started crying, ‘Help! Help! Wolf! Wolf!’ After hearing the cries, the

villagers looked up the hill. They saw the boy waving at them.

1 farmer: Look! He is shouting and waving at us!
                  st
2 farmer: (with a worried expression) Yes! I can hear the word ‘Wolf’.
                  nd
3 farmer: (with a scared look) Let us run and help him!
                  rd
The villagers rushed towards the hill and climbed it as quickly as they could but
they didn’t see any wolf. All they could see was the sheep grazing peacefully and the

boy laughing at them, holding his stomach. The villagers got annoyed.

1 farmer: (annoyed) What is this! Where is the wolf?
                  st
2 farmer: (in disbelief) You are laughing at us!
                  nd
The villagers understood that the shepherd boy had played a prank.

3 farmer: (angry) It is not funny! We were so worried.
                  rd
Boy: (laughing) Ha! Ha! You people are so foolish. You believed me. How
                              could you!

1 farmer: Anybody could have panicked after hearing your cries.
                  st

2 farmer: (staring at him) We will not help you if a wolf actually comes.
                  nd
Boy: (holding his laughter) Okay! I will not do it again.
After a few days, while grazing the sheep, the shepherd boy thought of playing the

                same prank again.

Boy: (with a naughty smile) I am feeling bored again. Let me fool the villagers

                              once more.
He started screaming, ‘Wolf! Wolf!’, again. The villagers working in the field looked

up the hill again. They saw the boy waving at them and heard his cries.
