There was a time, some hundred years ago, when blue was thought to be a paler and

softer colour, meant for girls. Pink was thought to be closer to red and, therefore, a
stronger colour, meant for boys! It was only in the 1940s that clothing companies
thought of a new marketing idea to sell their clothes and decided on blue for boys
and pink for girls.
