Sarla Thakral was born in
1914 and became the first
Indian woman to fly. She
was married at 16 and had
a daughter at 17. At the
age of 21, she earned her
pilot license and flew an
aircraft solo. Sarla worked
hard and completed one
thousand hours of flying in
the aircraft owned by the
Lahore Flying Club.
